Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (“AGRA”, “we”, “us” and “our”) is committed to protecting your right to privacy and ensuring that you continue to trust us with your personal data.  When you interact with us, you  may share personal information with us that permits your identification of you as an individual (such as name, email address, address and telephone number). This is known as “personal data”.

This Privacy Policy applies where we are acting as a data controller with respect to your personal data as a visitor to our websites and as a user of any of our related platforms and where we determine the purposes and means of processing of your personal data.

By using our website, platforms or through our branded pages or applications on third-party social networks (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) (“Forum Sites”) or by giving us your personal data when registering for events or other services, such as signing up for newsletters, you accept the collecting and processing of your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not use Forum Sites or give us any personal data.

It is not applicable to any websites controlled by third parties not affiliated with us that the Forum Site may link to (“Third Party Sites”). Information We Collect

When you visit the Forum Sites, we process personal data that you provide through the Forum Sites, for example, when you enter personal details (e.g. name, gender, address, email address, phone number) on a registration page or if you sign up for an email newsletter.

We  may use the personal data that you provide to us with your consent for a specified purpose or when you interact with Forum Sites or we process your data if we have legal basis, namely, with regards to your registration to our events.

Furthermore, we operate (I) custom platforms, which are fully built and maintained by us  (“Custom Platforms”); and (II) cooperate with platforms which provide individual Forum products or services, which are maintained and provided for by third-party providers (“Cooperation Platforms”), and (III) third party applications and services, which can be embedded or integrated into one of the platforms described under (I) or (II) (“Embedded Services”).

Our  public websites are the external-facing platforms for public engagement with us  and provide insights into our activities, initiatives and projects.

Automatically Collected Information

When you use our public websites, we automatically collect certain computer information by the interaction of your mobile phone or web browser with our Website. Such information is typically considered non-personal information. We also collect the following:

Cookies

We automatically receive information from your web browser or mobile device. This information includes the name of the website from which you entered our public website, if any, as well as the name of the website to which you are headed when you leave our website. This information also includes the IP address of your computer/proxy server that you use to access the Internet, your internet website provider name, web browser type, type of mobile device, and computer operating system.

Analytics

Our public websites use third party cookies for analytics (Google Analytics) and to track common metrics such as platform engagement, concurrent users, maximum number of users, time spent on a page, among others. Any use of such analytics cookies is to improve your user experience and provide the Forum with valuable information to help the Forum to better tailor our services to our partners, members, constituents and participants.

Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the advertisements of its own advertising network.

You can opt-out of having made your activity on the Service available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity. We do not share your personal data with any third party that intends to use it for direct marketing purposes, unless you have provided specific consent in relation to this.

We will share personal data with third parties when we have your consent to do so. We require explicit opt-in consent for the sharing of any sensitive personal information.

We will share personal data based on legitimate interests as, for example, when you register for one of our events, except where such interests are overridden by your interests or fundamental rights, in which case we will request your explicit consent.

III For external processing (service providers)

We may engage service providers, agents or contractors to provide services on our behalf, including to administer Forum Sites and services available to you. These third parties may come to access or otherwise process your personal data in the course of providing these services. Security of personal data

The Forum is committed to protecting the security of your personal data. Any information provided to the Forum by you is handled with due care and security, and will not be used in ways other than as set forth in this Privacy Policy, or in any site/area-specific policies, or in ways to which users have not explicitly consented. The Forum employs a range of technologies and security measures to protect the information maintained on Forum systems from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration or destruction.

However, since the internet is not a 100% secure environment, the Forum cannot ensure nor guarantee the security of any information that the user may transmit to Forum Sites. There is no guarantee that information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed by breach of any of the Forum’s physical, technical or managerial safeguards.
